NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate

Audience :

The assessments focus on the application of knowledge to help you prepare for environmental management tasks faced in the workplace.
Assessment formatThe qualification is broken down into two units, which are assessed in the following ways:
Unit EMC1
Environmental management
Examination (to be downloaded, completed, and submitted in 24 hours)
Learners will be required to review a real-life scenario and answer theoretical and practical questions on environmental management.

Unit EMC2
Assessing environmental aspects and associated impacts
Practical Assessment
Learners will be required to assess environmental aspects and impacts in their chosen workplace.

Outline :

This qualification helps you understand how to manage environmental issues and this knowledge can be applied in workplaces anywhere in the world.
On completion of the qualification, you will be able to:

  • understand a range of environmental issues so that you can improve environmental performance and reduce harm
  • work within an environmental management system and contribute to continual improvement
  • recognise environmental aspects and associated impacts, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls
  • support decision-making with ethical, legal and financial arguments
  • understand the links between your organisation’s activities and wider environmental issues.

Entry :

There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
It is important that learners have a suitable standard of English language in order to understand and articulate the concepts contained in the syllabus. NEBOSH recommends that learners undertaking this qualification should reach a minimum standard of English equivalent to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS tests.

Accreditation :

The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate has been accredited and credit rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) Accreditation. It sits in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at SCQF Level 6 with 6 SCQF credit points.
SCQF Level 6 is comparable to RQF/CQFW Level 3 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Where appropriate, the SQA Accreditation logo will appear on certificates awarded for this qualification. The SCQF logo, credit and level information will appear on the unit result notification. Please visit the SCQF website for further information on credit and levels.
